Head of food production - Pizza Chef

We are searching for the perfect person to continue the high standard food production and running the kitchen at Range Brewing. Range Brewing is a small batch brewery with a focus on design, relaxed vibes, fresh beer and the perfect pizza to accompany it. Role description for the head of food production - Pizza Chef  

Start Date: Mid August 2019

Job purpose:

To prepare, produce and serve pizza to the customers of the Range Brewing taproom. 

The pizza maker’s responsibilities at Range Brewing will involve:

  • preparation of 24-hour slow rise dough, preparing and cooking ingredients to a high level

  • implementation of cleaning and hygiene processes to meet a very high standard of cleanliness

  • quality control management 

  • maintain the integrity of raw materials; ability to report and/or order low levels of inventory in order to ensure availability of appropriate raw materials for the production schedule

  • kitchen maintenance including equipment maintenance, troubleshooting problems that arise and repair as needed

  • regular communications to appropriate personnel regarding production schedules, daily specials, etc.

  • perform other duties as assigned

This role requires:

  • at least 2 years' experience as a Pizza Maker in a high-volume, fast paced establishment OR 2 years’ experience working with dough in a baking environment. 

  • the production of, and ability to work with hand-tossed dough

  • the passion and drive to succeed and produce high quality dishes 

  • strong work ethic and attention to detail in all areas of your work

  • impeccable presentation, hygiene and grooming standards

  • ability to work independently as well as be a leader and key member of the food team

  • the maintenance of high standards

  • good software skills

  • an inquisitive mind and a preference for prevention rather than cure

  • physical capabilities required for the role include but are not limited to the ability to work in hot and/or humid conditions; extreme heat; ability to frequently lift and/or move 20kgs ; ability to frequently stand for long periods of time

  • fluent written and spoken English; the ability to write articulately and succinctly

The person will be:

  • careful and diligent – with a good dose of common sense

  • efficient, effective and organised, in both the physical and digital worlds

  • modestly confident and also personable, good humoured and trustworthy

  • at home in the worlds of beer,food and design
